Matthias Villwock (Bass)

Born: June 16, ___ - San Diego, California, usa

The American bass and drummer, Matthias Villwock, is currently (2011-2013) a music student at San Diego State University (SDSU). He is studying voice (with an emphasis in opera) with Laurinda Nikkel and jazz and commercial drumming with Mike Holguin. Last April (2011?), he won 1st place in his division at the annual student NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) voice competition and recently he was featured as Giuseppe in Gilbert and Sullivans' The Gondoliers. As a drummer, he has played in various engagements with Lamb's Players theatre company, and was the house drummer for the annual Oceanside Jazz Festival in 2010 and 2011. He is a member of the bass section of the Chancel Choir.

Matthias Villwock was selected by audition to participate in the Southern California Vocal Association’s Regional Honor Choir. This choir was directed by several professional choral directors and performed in concert on November 16, 2007 at Santa Monica High School. Matthias, who was chosen from a group of 300 singers, has been in The Bishop’s Singers for three years.
