Ensemble Vanitas (Instrumental Ensemble)

Founded: 1995 - Lugano, Switzerland

The Ensemble Vanitas was founded in Lugano in 1995, since several excellent musicians specialised in playing historical instruments had the idea to collaborate and felt at the same time the need to refine their executional praxis of baroque music within the RTSI Chorus activities. Ensemble Vanitas’ founder is Diego Fasolis, who has remained its spiritus rector and principal conductor.

The repertoire (as expressed by the clearly "baroque" name of the ensemble) covers mainly the music of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Depending on the program, the ensemble is formed by a variable number of musicians. Its members have graduated from the major European music schools and appear regularly as soloist in the most important festivals of "antique" music.
