Kioi Sinfonietta Tokyo (Chamber Orchestra)

Founded: 1995 - Tokyo, Japan

Kioi Sinfonietta Tokyo was founded as the resident orchestra of Kioi Hall in 1995 when the hall opened. With musicians who are active in the front lines inside and outside Japan and under the leadership of Tadaaki Otaka, (currently, Honorary Conductor Laureate), the orchestra has become one of the exemplary chamber orchestras in Japan, and it has performed with numerous top artists. The orchestra's rich musicality backed by extraordinary performing techniques and ensemble has won an established reputation. It is actively performing concerts in Japan and overseas including its first European tour in 2000, an invitational performance in the Dresden Music Festival in 2005, and concerts in four major cities in the USA in 2012. The orchestra is operated by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Arts Foundation.
