Stuttgarter Oratorienchor (Choir)

Founded: Stuttgart, Germany

The Stuttgarter Oratorienchor's concert programmes includes usually three concerts with major choral works each year. This is among the leading amateur choirs in Stuttgart. In its glamorous concerts, the choir performs together with renowned soloists and members of the Staatsorchester Stuttgart, including at the Stuttgart Liederhalle and the great churches of the city and the surrounding area. Enrico Trummer is the artistic director of the choir. An experienced music teacher at the Königin-Katharina-Stift Stuttgart, who was for many years a lecturer at the Stuttgart Musikhochschule.

The Stuttgarter Oratorienchor consists of about 90 singers. The music ranges from early Baroque music to moderate modernism of the 20th Century, including major sacred music works with orchestral accompanied such as oratorios Passions, Masses, Requiems, Stabat Mater, Te Deum and others, but also secular choral-symphonic works, such as Orff's Carmina Burana. Familiar and the unfamiliar works can be found in the programme, including world and German premieres. Thus there is something for everyone's taste in music.
