The Austrian rock singer Christina Stürmer, was the most favored "Starmania" finalist, leading the votes by far in every single show. However, she was beaten by Michael Tschuggnall in the very last minute.

Although 'just' being runner up her career developed far more successful than that of the winner, Tschugnall. In 2003 she was preparing a musical career in Vienna. She was the Shooting Star of late 2003 and of 2004 in Austria, now one of the absolute top acts in Austrian pop music.
