Born – 1932 – Holland
Henk Smit was a concert, oratorio and opera singer. He started as a real bass in roles as Zaccharia and Méphistophélès and just later on he changed to dramatic bass-baritone roles. Numerous appearances in a big varied repertory from Bach via Wagner to the modern composers. He performed at the "Holland Festival" and at the premieres of Winter Cruise (1979, Henkemans) and Esmée (1995, Loevendie) . He also gave numerous performances in Europe as well in the USA.
