Judit Scherrer (Soprano)

Born: Trun, Switzerland

The Swiss soprano, Judit Scherrer, comes as her sister the soprano Letizia Scherrer from the Romansh Switzerland and studied singing at the Landeskonservatorium in Feldkirch with Ralf Ernst / Kurt Widmer. She obtained her concert diploma with distinction (2000). At the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam she studied with Margreet Honig and graduated also with distinction (2003). She attended master-classes with Roger Vignoles, Hartmut Höll / Mitsuko Shirai, Rudolf Jansen, Elly Ameling, Udo Reinemann, Tamar Rachum and François Le Roux. For her extensive musical work, she received the Promotion Prize of the Kantons Graubünden, the Prize of the CRR, the Aurax-Prize and was a prize-winner of the Migros-Genossenschafts-Bundes. She later studied naturopath for psychotherapy at the Heilpraktiker-Akademie Lindau GmbH in Lindau Bodensee, Bavaria Germany, graduating in 2015.

Judit Scherrer is a Lieder and oratorio singer, who is, however, also can be heard in the opera world. She has appeared as a soloist at leading international festivals such as Styriarte, Resonanzen Wien, Osterklangfest Wien, Origen Festival Cultural, Automne Musical du Château de Versailles, Psalm Graz, Settembre Musica Torino, Semana de musica religiosa Cuenca, Rencontres Musicales de Vezelay, Les nuits de la Citadelle Sisteron, Festival de Noirlac, Festival de Musique Baroque Ambronay, Internationale Festtage B. Martinu Basel, Bodenseefestival, Festival de l’Abbaye de Fontmorigny, Festival des Cathedrales de Picardie, Festival Menhir.

Judit Scherrer has worked with conductors such as Jordi Savall / Hespèrion XXI / Le Concert des Nations, Michel Corboz / Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne / Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Clau Scherrer / Origen Ensemble, Alfredo Bernardini, Jörg Hannes Hahn / Bachakademie Stuttgart, Hayko Siemens/Orchester La Banda, Manfred Honeck, Gerard Korsten, Christoph Eberle / Symphonieorchester Bregenz, etc.

Numerous CD, radio and television productions document her work to date. She also produced a DVD with Jordi Savall (La Capella Reial de Catalunya / Hespèrion XXI) in Versailles Palace during the Festival Automne Musical du Château de Versailles.
