Bernard Richter (Tenor)

Born: 1973 - Neuchâtel, Switzerland

The Swiss tenor, Bernard Richter, studied in Neuchâtel and was a member of the Opera Studio Bienne.

Past engagements include Belmonte in W.A. Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail at Opéra at Bastille, Pelléas in Pelléas et Mélisande at Opéra de Lyon and Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Tamino, Clotarco in Armida at Salzburger Festspiele, Jaquino in L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio at Verbier Festival, Don Ottavio and Le Chevalier De La Force in Francis Poulenc's Les Dialogues des Carmélites at Bayerische Staatsoper München, Castor in Castor and Pollux with Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon), Rossillon in Die Lustige Witwe at Grand Théâtre de Genève, W.A. Mozart's Tito (title) at Opéra de Nancy, Orphée in Orphée aux Enfers at Opéra de Lausanne and Lullyís Atys (title) with Les Arts Florissants (Director: William Christie) at Opéra Comique, Versailles and Caen and Alphonse in Zampa with Les Arts Florissants at Opéra Comique. Further highlights have included Erik in Der fliegende Holländer, Bénédict in Béatrice et Bénédict, Don Ottavio, Ecclitico in Il Mondo della Luna (available on DVD), Medoro in Orlando Paladino at Theater an der Wien, Paris in La Belle Hélène, Fritz in La Grande Duchesse de Gérolstein at Théâtre du Châtelet, Don Ottavio, Lucio Silla (title) by Johann Christian Bach at Opernhaus Zürich, Hylas in Les Troyens, Don Ottavio, Tamino, and Froh in Das Rheingold at Opéra Bastille, and Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. For Theater Freiburg he sang the title roles of Idomeneo, Lucio Silla and Mitridate.

In concert, Bernard Richter has appeared with the Berliner Symphoniker, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Les Musiciens du Louvre (Director: Marc Minkowski) at the Salzburger Pfingsfestspiele and Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, as well as at the Salle Gaveau de Paris, Tonhalle Zürich, Mozart Tage Luzern, Styriarte Graz, Gewandhaus Leipzig, L'Accademia di Santa Cecilia and Konzerthaus Wien. He also sang Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and W.A. Mozart's Requiem Budapest Festival Orchestra tour to London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Bruges and Baden-Baden.

Bernard Richter has worked with artists including Ivor Bolton, Sylvain Cambreling, William Christie, Asher Fisch, Adam Fischer, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Kasper Holten, Philippe Jordan, Nikolaus Lehnhoff, Christof Loy, Fabio Luisi, Sir Neville Marriner, Kent Nagano, Marc Minkowski, Raphaël Pichon, Laurent Pelly, Peter Schneider, Jeffrey Tate, and Keith Warner.

Bernard Richterís current and upcoming engagements include Des Grieux in Manon at Grand Théâtre de Genève, La Clemenza di Tito (title) Teatro Real Madrid, Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni at Teatro alla Scala di Milano and Opernhaus Zürich, Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and W.A. Mozart's Requiem with Budapest Festival Orchestra tour to London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Bruges and Baden-Baden, St. J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) at Wiener Konzerthaus, Staatsoper Hamburg and Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg.
