Lucie Rauh (Contralto)

Born: Strabourg, France
Died: 1989 - Strabourg, France

The French contralto, Lucie Rauh, studied piano and singing in the Conservatorium of Strasbourg and began her career as an artist in France. Her fame grew as she was a specialist of J.S. Bach and then produced herself in most of the European concert halls. Like her brother, who was also a musician, she was once rewarded with the "arts et lettres" medal, which she's got from the hands of Président De Gaulle in the 1960’s. She appears to sing once with Nadia Boulanger, as the artist who was engaged got sick: It's the unique time she was performing with such a great artist like Nadia Boulanger.

Later, Lucie Rauh ended her career by teaching singing at the Conservatoire de Musique of Strasbourg and spent her retirement time bringing her experience and knowledge in many choirs in Strasbourg, especially the "chorale strasbourgeoise". She was also famous for her great kindness and patience.
