Laurence Orlowski (Soprano)

Born: France

The French soprano, Laurence Orlowski, studied music at the Maîtrise de Radio-France; the at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSM).

Laurence Orlowski turned to early music and to contemporary music, participating in several vocal ensembles, along with solo activities. Member of La Chapelle Royale, Musica-treize, Groupe vocal de France and the Musiciens du Palais Royal, she sang under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe, Péter Eötvös, Michel Corboz, etc. Her extensive repertoire includes works from Monteverdi, Dowland, François Couperin, to contemporary composers (Steve Reich, Adrienne Clostre or Maurice Ohana). She also sang opera roles such as Pamina, Despina (Mozart) and Rita (Donizetti).

Laurence Orlowski has recorded three discs (Arion) with the medieva ensemble La Maurache. She also teaches singing at the Conservatoire d'Etampes. Since January 2004, she has performed with the lutenist-theorbist Kléber Besson in the frmation of voices and plucked strings.
