Kantorei der Kirchgemeinde Ohrdruf (Choir)

Born: Ohrdruf, Thuringia, Germany

The church music of the Bach town od Ohrdruf is provided by its three choirs. The Kantorei, consisting of about 30 singers, has developed very well in the last four years and with a number of cantatas by J.S. Bach and Georg Philipp Telemann, Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi and J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) are just a few highlights of the church music literature they perform.

The Kantorei is well established in the region, much of the chorus comes from the places of Ohrdruf surrounding area, which in turn is reflected also in the concerts. Of course, they perform not only rehearsed to concert works, but also worship music. But the Kantorei is not limited to use in houses of worship, they also opened the circle of singer meetings at the Goldberg Hall in September 2009. The rehearsals are held every Wednesday at 19:00 in the hall of St. Trinitatis Kirche.
