Oscar Ohlsen (Guitar, Lute)

Born: Chile

The Chilean guitarist and lutenist, Oscar Ohlsen, studied music in Santiago and London.

Oscar Ohlsen is one of the first guitarists to play the lute in Chile. He has toured extensively throughout North and South America, England, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, France, Germany, Japan and the People’s Republic of China. At present he is recording at EMI and SVR. He has also written “Aspectos técnicos esenciales en la ejecución del laúd” (Essential technical aspects in the playing of lute) and “La música barroca: un nuevo enfoque” (The Baroque music: a new point of view), published by Opera Tres in Madrid and Ediciones Universidad Católika de Chile respectively.

Oscar Ohlsen teaches at the Institute of Music, Facultu of Arts, Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
