Israel Moreno (Tenor)

Born: March 20, 1975 - Seville, Spain

The Spanish tenor, Israel Moreno Rodriguez, began his musical studies at the Conservatorio Manuel Castillo in Seville, specializing in piano and singing, obtaining the degree of professional in piano. He currently holds a degree in musicology from the Conservatorio Superior de Sevilla.

Israel Moreno is a member of various choirs, such as Juan Navarro Hispalensis directed by Professor D. Alonso Salas Machuca, with which he has performed numerous concerts throughout Andalusia, with very diverse repertoires spanning eras from medieval music to the Middle Baroque, through the Renaissance. He has recorded with this choir an album sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía of the composer Pedro Rabassa, with the participation of soloists such as Josep Benet, Jordi Ricard, David Sagastume, Alicia Borges and Isabel Álvarez, directed by Josep Cabré.

Israel Moreno also participates in the formation project of the Coro Barroco de Andalucía promoted by the Junta de Andalucía, and with singing teachers such as Carlos Mena, Lambert Climent and Lluis Vilamajó. With this group he has covered programs ranging from the Renaissance to Romantic, offering concerts at the most prestigious festivals in Andalusia, such as the Festival de Música Antigua de Úbeda y Baeza, Festival de Música de Cádiz, etc. He has collaborated or is a member of groups such as Il Temperamento Musicale with the soprano Cristina Bayón Álvarez, La trulla de bozes and La Capilla Peñaflorida, the Orquesta Barroca de Granada, Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, Ensemble la Danserye, etc.

Israel Moreno has recorded with groups such as La Capella Reial de Catalunya (Director: Jordi Savall), Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, Nova Lux Ensemble, Rara Avis, Victoria Musicae y Virelay, covering music by composers such as Mateo Flecha el joven, Francisco and Pedro Guerrero (Cancionero de Medinaceli), Joan Baptista Comes, Juan Manuel de la Puente and J.S. Bach, among others.

As a tenor soloist Israel Moreno has covered several repertoires such as Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach, Requiem by W.A. Mozart, several cycles of cantatas by J.S. Bach, etc.

Since 2014, Israel Moreno is, together with Gabriel Díaz, Artistic Director of the Sociedad Musical de Sevilla.
