Thomas Menhert (Bass-Baritone)

Born: 1966 - Chemnitz, Germany

The German bass-baritone, Thomas Menhert, was a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor and received there his first singing lessons. He then studied history in Munich. Beginning in 1991 he completed his singing studies at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munich in the class of Ursula Hirschberger.

Since the 2006-2007 season Thomas Menhert is engaged as a bass singer at the Staatstheater Darmstadt. His roles there include the Titurel, Baculus and Sparafucile in Rigoletto. In the autumn of 2008 he sang Cardinal Brogni in La Juive and Kothner in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Staatstheater Darmstadt.
