William McDonald (Tenor)

Born: USA

The American tenor, William McDonald, sang leading roles in works of Mozart, Verdi, Puccini and Donizetti. In addition, he sang a number of oustanding works of the contemporary scene. In January 1967 he portrayed the glamorous Duke of Mantua in the Goldovsky Opera Theater performance of Verdi’s Rigoletto (in English) directed by Edward Alley. In January 1968 he appeared as a soloist in Johan Franco’s As the Prophets Foretold with the Choir of New York Avenue Presbyterian Church of Washington under Stephen H. Prushing. In 1968 he appeared as a soloist with The Masterworks Chorale. In 1979 he appeared at the Baldwin-Wallace College Bach Festival. In April 1987 he was a featured singer in Opera Gala benefit concert of the Orlando Opera Company under the guest conductor Willie Anthony Waters at Orlando's Carr Performing Arts Centre. He recorded Donizetti’s The Daughter of the Regiment (VAI, 1974).
