Marshall University Choral Organizations provide opportunities for students from throughout the MU and Huntington tri-state communities to participate in an exciting and rewarding choral program.

The Marshall University Chorus is a mixed chorus of fifty singers who represent many departments and majors throughout the university. The ensemble is open to all students without audition and includes members with a variety of backgrounds and skills.

Marshall University Chamber Choir, directed by David Castleberry

Chamber Choir is a select twenty-eight voice ensemble, chosen by audition from the entire MU student body. The choir performs works representing the past five centuries and has sung in a dozen languages. Chamber Choir tours regularly and has performed for a variety of ACDA and MENC events. They appeared in an award-winning PBS-WPBY program, Choral Fusion, and were seen throughout the fall in a new Marshall University televised promotional campaign.

Marshall University Choral Union, directed by Susan Onofrio

Choral Union is a large choral ensemble that brings student singers together with members of the Huntington tri-state community to perform large works for chorus and orchestra. Recent performances have included Haydn’s Paukenmesse, Verdi’s Requiem, William Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Hodie, and Francis Poulenc’s Gloria, along with the Gloria by John Rutter presented on this concert. This spring (2006), Choral Union will perform Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, John Corigliano’s Fern Hill, and Randol Bass’s Southwestern Suite.
