Rebecca Lord (Choral Conductor)

Born: USA

The American choral conductor, violinist, soprano and music teacher, Rebecca Lord,. earned her Bachelor of Music degree, summa cum laude, in vocal performance at Georgia State University and a certificate in acting at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre School. She has also studied extensively at the Eastman School of Music and the Chautauqua Institute. She recently completed her Master of Music & Doctorate of Musical Arts (2011) studies in conducting under the instruction of Donald Neuen at UCLA. She is currently studying conducting privately with both Donald Neuen (UCLA) and Kenneth Kiesler (University of Michigan).

While a graduate student, Rebecca Lord served as the full-time conductor of the UCLA University Chorus and Early Music Ensemble, the co-conductor of the UCLA Chamber Singers and an assistant conductor for the UCLA Chorale. She also conducted the UCLA Symphony and was guest conductor of the Philharmonia for Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante featuring guest soloists Professors Guillaume Sutre and Richard O’Neill.

Rebecca Lord was one of five young orchestral conductors selected nationally to participate in the 2011 Atlantic Music Festival. She also recently prepared the choirs for the Los Angeles performances of the international tours of Pandemonium (by the creators of STOMP) & Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy. She assistant conducted Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 in Columbia, South Carolina.

Equally at home as a violinist, violist, vocalist, actress, and dancer, Rebecca Lord has performed in many locations around the country. As a soprano in Manhattan’s Trinity Wall Street Choir and Bach Vespers Choir, she performed repeatedly as a soloist. Elsewhere, she has soloed in many varied oratorio and concert settings. A member of Actor’s Equity, Rebecca has performed as a professional actress for over fifteen years, including two years in residence with the Tony Award-winning Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis. She has performed as a violinist for professional opera, ballet and theatre companies, on tour, and in the recording studio. She has conducted public school choral music in the state of Pennsylvania, and both choral and orchestral music in the state of Utah.

Rebecca Lord currently serves as Associate Director of Choral Activities, conducts the University Chorus and directs the Choral Outreach Program.
