Franz Leitner (Tenor)

Born: Austria

The Austrian tenor, Franz Leitner, studied at the Conservatory of Vienna. In 1998 he received diploma for Lied and Oratorio with David Lutz, and in 200 diploma for opera, both with excellent success. At presents he gets instruction Alois Aichhorn. He has also participated in master-classes with Walter Berry, Martha Eggert, Paul Esswood and James King. In 1998 he received 3rd Prize of the jury and 1st public Prize at the opertta competition "Internationalen Kunstförderung Nico Dostal"

Franz Leitner opera and operetta repertoire includes: Graf Almaviva in Der Barbier von Sevilla by G. Rossini (Stadttheater Baden), Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte by W.A. Mozart (Landestheater St. Pölten), Fenton in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor by O. Nicolai (Stadttheater Baden), 1st Strolch and Eselmann in Die Kluge by C. Orff (Theater Akzent Wien), Soldat in Der Reigen by Ph. Boesmans (Museumsquartier Wien), Mozart in Mozart und Salieri by N. Rimski-Korssakov (Barcelona and Madrid), Edwin in Die Csárdásfürstin by E. Kálmán (Klangbogen Wien), Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus by J. Strauss (Schlosstheater Schönbrunn Wien), Georg in Der Opernball by R. Heuberger (Germany tour), Christian in Die Gold'ne Meisterin by E. Eysler (Kammeroper Wien), Adam in Der Vogelhändler by C. Zeller (Bezirksfestwochen Wien), Boccaccio in Boccaccio by F.v. Suppé (Bezirksfestwochen Wien),

Franz Leitner's concert and oratorio repertoire includes: Weihnachtsoratorien by J.S. Bach (BWV 248) and Camille Saint-Saëns, Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) and Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach, Schöpfung and Jahreszeiten by J. Haydn. Cantatas, Masses and Lieder, as well as premieres of contemporary composers.
