Janet Lax (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: England

The English mezo-soprano, Janet Lax, read music at Birmingham University, and studied with Marion Studholm at the Royal College of Music.

Janet Lax specialises in concert and oratorio repertoire. Notable concert engagements include J.S. Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245) at Aachen Cathedral and York Minster; Georg Frideric Handel's Messiah at Hereford Cathedral and St Martin-in-the-Fields; John Rutter's Requiem at Truro Cathedral. Her opera appearances include Spirit of the boy in Curlew River (Benjamin Britten) for Opera Factory in London and on tour in Switzerland, Spain, Portugal and France. She has also recorded the role of Dido and Aeneas (Purcell) with Andrew Parrott and the Taverner Consort.
