Robert Kuizenga (Counter-tenor)

Born: 1984 - The Netherlands

The Dutch counter-tenor, Robert Kuizenga, began as a boy soprano in the Roder Jongenskoor (boys choir) directed by Bouwe Dijkstra. As the main soloist of the Roder Jongenskoor he sang the "Angel" part from the oratorio Jephtha by George Frideric Handel conducted by Paul McCreesh. After his voice breaking, he was taught as a counter-tenor taught by Jan Zwerver en van Eugenie Ditewig at the Utrecht Conservatory. In recent years, he studied with Pierre Mak en Michael Chance. Currently he is coached by Maarten Engeltjes.

As a soloist Robert Kuizenga participated in performances of oratorios, cantatas and passions. He has sung with conductors such as Ton Koopman, Jos van Veldhoven and Peter Dijkstra. Recently he won the jury and audience at the competition "In de ban van de Hohe Messe" by which he attended master-classes with Johannette Zomer. Besides, he is regularly active as a chorister. For 15 years he was a member of the core team of Collegium Vocale Gent and sang with various professional ensembles.

Furthermore, Robert Kuizenga as a manual therapist working in Amsterdam with Sento Medical Physiotherapy and Manual Therapy.
