Steffen Kubach (Baritone)

Born: 1971 - Waiblingen, near Stuttgart, Germany

The German baritone, Steffen Kubach, had studied after the exams first with Luisa Bosabalian and Carl Davis on the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart, before moving in 1995 to Mannheim to the singing class of Rudolf Piernay, with whom he has worked until today. In 1977 he began studies at the Opernschule (opera school) with Jutta Gleue and Hans-Werner Pintgen, finishing in the summer of 2000 with the artistic diploma. He also participated in master-classes with Christa Ludwig, Walter Berry, Thomas Quasthoff and others. He was a scholarship holder of the Rems-Murr-Kreissparkassen, the Richard-Wagner-Vebands and the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung. He was double winner of the competition of the Erika Köth master-class in Neustadt an der Weinstraße.

Steffen Kubach has appeared at the Festivals of Heidelberg, Ludwigsburg and Weikersheim, at the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, with the Bundesjugendorchester, the Landesjugendchor Baden-Württemberg, the Frankfurter Sinfonikern and the Baden-Badener Philharmonikern under the baton of conductors as Siegfried Köhler, and Stefan Sanderling.

Since 2000-2001 season, Steffen Kubach is ensemble member of the Opera of Lübeck. At this opera houses he could be heard in 2003-2004 season in the roles of Polizeikommissars and Notars (Der Rosenkavalier), Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Henry Higgins (My Fair Lady), Baron Weps (Der Vogelhändler), Zar Peter der Erste (Zar und Zimmermann) and the Music Teacher (Ariadne auf Naxos). In 2004-2005 season he sang the roles of Henry Higgins (My Fair Lady), Albin (Ein Käfig voller Narren - La Cage aux Folles), and Leopold Brandmeyer (Im Weißen Rößl). In 2005-2006 season: Conférencier (Cabaret), Der Schatten (Schattenspiele), 2nd Handwerksbursch (Wozzeck), Feri v. Kerekes (Die Csárdásfürstin), Gala concert for the 250th Birthday of W.A. Mozart, Der Lustige Krieg (special concert), and Sid (Albert Herring).
