The English tenor, Thomas Kelly, began sdin ging at age 7 as a chorister at the Choir of St. Paul's Cathedral, London from 1997-2003 and head-chorister there from 2002-2003. He studied Music, English, and Economics at The King's School Canterbury (2003-2008). He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree (Grade First Class) from the University of Manchester (2009-2012). He sang there in the University Chamber Choir and Ad Solem University Chorus. During his studies, he was Music Camp Leader at American International School of Lusaka (August 2009-August 2010), including vocal coaching, choir coaching, popular music direction and performance practice teaching. He studies with Gary Coward.
Thomas Kelly has benn Lay Clerk at Manchester Cathedral (since April 2011); Radio 4 Daily Service Singer at BBC Manchester (since May 2011); Director of Guava Music (since September 2011). He sings with various choirs and vocal ensembles, including the Monteverdi Choir (Director: John Eliot Gardiner), BBC Singers and Collegium Vocale Gent (Director: Philippe Herreweghe), and Stile Antico. He performs frequently as a soloist: a highlight is touring a chamber opera of Monteverdi’s music, staged for 0-2 year olds, around east London. He currently lives in London, England and enjoys bouldering in his spare time.
