Lela Katsarova (Piano)

Born: 1967 - Georgia

The Georgian pianist, Lela Katsarava, started learning piano in her country in the class of Tchavchanidze Meri. She then spent several times in Mexico where she appeared often in concerts. She täught piano at the University of Mexico, and returned to Georgia where she received her First Prize in 1989.

Upon her arrival in France in 1997-1998, Lela Katsarava studied with Brigitte Engerer at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse (CNSMD). She received a grant from the French government and the Mécénat Musical Société Général, which allowed her to record the Goldberg Variations (BWV 988). Her favourite repertoire is the music of J.S. Bach, because "Bach is the humanity in a pure state!".
