Koki Katano (Tenor)

Born: 1968 - Japan

The Japanese tenor, Koki Katano, began his musical career as a boy soprano at the age of seven. He garduated from the Master’s programme at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.

Koki Katano has sung as a soloist throughout Japan and has been a member of the Bach Collegium Japan since 1992, appearing both as tenor soloist and as a member of the choir. Since 1993 Katano has been in Germany, studying at the Hamburg Conservatory and the Bremen University of Fine Arts.

Koki Katano's concert engaements have included Peri’s Eurydice in Bremen, as well as number of Bach’s cantatas, the St. John Passion (BWV 245) and Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), Händel’s Messiah an anthems, a Mozart Mass and Rossini’s Messe solennelle in Hamburg, as well as at the Markuskirche in Munich ans Salzburg Cathedral and at St. John Smith Square in London. Katano was a guest singer with the NDR Chor.
