The American guitarist, Lawrence Johnson, has studied with some of the greatest masters of the classical guitar including: Andrés Segovia, Christopher Parkening, Ida Presti, Alexander Lagoya, and Oscar Ghiglia (among others).

Brian Jeffrey, the leading international authority on Sor, remarks on Johnson's "eloquent playing." Christopher Parkening hails Johnson as "a sensitive artist... one who deeply loves his instrument".

Lawrence Johnson presently teaches at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York.
