Jaclyn Johnson (Choral Conductor)

Born: January 31, ___ - Upland, California, USA

The American choral conductor, Jaclyn Johnson, obtained her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Chapman University (2004); her Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Conducting Chapman University (2004); her Master of Music degree in Conducting at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in Long Beach, California (2011), and her Master of Teaching degree Chapman University (2013). In 2015, she completed her DMA in Choral Conducting at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Jaclyn Johnson has been a professional choral conductor since 2003. She was assistant conductor for the Long Beach Camerata Singers, co-directed the Arrowbear Summer Music Camp, and has directed collegiate, choral, and orchestral ensembles including the UM Women's Glee Club, Orpheus Singers, and Michigan Pops Orchestra.

Jaclyn Johnson Johnson had a thriving career as a high school choral educator for 8 years. She taught at Sante Fe High School, California (2004-2006) and at Murrieta Valley High School, California (2006-2012). She served as Music Director of University of Michigan Arts Chorale in Ann Arbor (2014-2015); Professor of Choral Conducting at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan (2014-2015); Interim Assistant Director of Choral Activities at University of Tennessee, Knoxville (since 2015). She has been a Music Minister for the United Methodist Church since 2002: Upland First United Methodist Church Upland, California (2008-2012); Dixboro United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan (2012-2014); and currently First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Ensembles under her direction have received numerous honors and awards, including performances at both the American Choral Directors Association Central Division Conference (2014), Western Division Conference (2010), and the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Conference (2011), and first place awards at the California Golden State South Competition. Her choirs have toured domestically and internationally to such destinations as San Francisco, New York, New Orleans, Canada, and Italy. In 2014, she represented the USA as an International Exchange Conductor to China. Her own vocal performance career has taken her to China, Russia, Czech Republic, Austria, Bratislava, Canada, Hawaii, Chicago, New York, New Zealand, and Australia. She currently resides in Knoxville, Tennessee with her beloved husband, Ron.
