The English mezzo-soprano/alto and singing teacher, Polly Jeffries, studied at Ashville College in Harrogate. She first came to London to take a degree in Music and choral scholarship at King's College London. More recently she completed a masters course in Vocal Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Polly Jeffries has a varied performing career ranging from being part of the chorus in the Simon Rattle/Trevor Nunn production of Benjamin Britten's Peter Grimes at the Salzburg Festival to performing early English polyphony one to a part to singing on the recording of Paul McCartney's recent classical work. She works regularly with professional choirs such as the BBC Singers and The King's Consort (Director: Robert King), Monteverdi Choir (Director: John Eliot Gardiner) and Hackney Singers (Director: Dan Ludford-Thomas). She has a regular job in the choir of the Guard's Chapel, London and frequently sing in many other professional church choirs in London including St Margaret's Westminster and St Brides Fleet Street. She also enjoys performing on the concert platform as an oratorio soloist, recent highlights including Sergei Rachmaninov's Vespers at St James Piccadilly, Igor Stravinsky's Mass at the Aldeburgh Festival, J.S. Bach's St John Passion (BWV 245), George Frideric Handel's Dixit Dominus, Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria, L.v. Beethoven's Mass in C, J. Haydn's Harmoniemesse and B. Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb.
Polly Jeffries is teaching singing to both children and adults. She also teaches music theory and beginners piano. She is currently based in South East London. |
