Inga Jäger (Mezzo-soprano, Contralto)

Born: September 11, 1981 - Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany

The Gertman mezzo-soprano/contralto and singing teacher, Inga Jäger, studied at Hegel-Gymnasium Magdeburg (Class of 2000). She began her musical education at the Konservatorium "Georg Philipp Telemann", first in piano, later singing. From 2000 to 2006, she studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig with Professor Hermann Christian Polster. In 2004, she was finaslist at the "Lortzing-Wettbewerbs" and in 2003 she particpated in in High School production of Der Vetter aus Dingsda by Eduard Künneke as Wilhelmine.

A busy concert schedule in oratorios and Lieder led Inga Jäger to numerous cities in Germany, other European countries and in the USA. She has worked with numerous orchestras, including the Hessische Staatsorchester Wiesbaden, Jenaer Philharmonie and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig.

In the seasons from 2004 to 2006 Inga Jäger performed as Third Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Oper Leipzig. In 2005, she portrayed Annina in Verdi's "La Traviata" at the Schlossfestspielen Wernigerode and worked in one of the main roles in the scenic song recital "Bilder der russischen Seele" in the Kellertheater der Oper Leipzig. From 2006 to 2009, she was engaged at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where she sang all the major roles in their field, including Sesto in George Frideric Handel's Giulio Cesare, Angelina in La Cenerentola by Rossini, Orfeo in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, Mercédès in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Muse in Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Maddalena in Verdi's Rigoletto and Hansel in Hansel und Gretel by Engelbert Humperdinck.

Successful guest engagements have taken Inga Jäger to the Winteroper Potsdam (La Cenerentola), Staatstheater Wiesbaden (German premiere of Lolita), the Oper Frankfurt (Die Zauberflöte) and Theater Chemnitz, where she appeared both as Erwin in Mike Svoboda's children's opera Erwin, das Naturtalent and as Pinocchio in the German premiere of the opera Pinocchios Abenteuer by Jonathan Dove. As Pinocchio she sang in the seasons 2009 and 2011 at the Staatsoper Stuttgart.

Since 2009 Inga Jäger is working as a freelance singer and singing teacher. She currently lives in Leipzig, Germany and teaches at Lyzeum für Klavier Leipzig..
