The German clavichordist, Hermann Iseringhausen, received his training in piano from Carl Hansen at the Northwest German Academy of Music in Detmold.

Hermann Iseringhausen was an instructor at the Protestant Church Music School in Herford from 1950 on. While holding this position he soon developed an interest in the clavichord, an instrument which he successfully introduced to the public in the concert hall in the years that followed. Here the cyclical performance of J.S. Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier formed a special focus in his repertoire.
