Stefania Huonder (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Graubünden Canton, Switzerland

The Swiss mezzo-soprano, Stefania Huonder, studied in Bern (teacher diploma) and Lucerne (concert diploma with distinction) with Margrit Conrad-Amberg. As a double winner of the Migros-scholarship she visited Graz in the Lied class of Ira Malaniuk. Awards of the Canton of Graubünden and others allowed her studies in Amsterdam with Margreet Honig.

Apart from a few operas, Stefania Huonder has been especially heard singing oratorios, passions and masses in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Italy. Her special love is Lieder singing. She has also been involved in several premieres of works by contemporary composers, and radio and television recordings. In May 2006 she sang on the 500th Anniversary of the Swiss Guard in Rome.

Stefania Huonder also works as a singing teacher at the Schweizerischer Musikpädagogischer Verband (SMPV) and voice trainer at the Summer Music Festival in Arosa and Einsiedeln.
