Angela Hicks (Soprano)

Born: England

The English soprano, Angela Hicks, studied at St Mary's Music School (2007-2010). She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (2010-2014), where she studied with Laureen Livingstone. She attended Trinity Laban with the assistance of scholarships from the Dame Susan Morden Trust and the Trinity Trust and is now making a career as a soloist and choral singer. She currently studies with Nicholas Powell.

Angela Hicks is a self-emloyed soprano since 2014. As a soloist she is an experienced singer of the core oratorios, including George Frideric Handel's Messiah; J.S. Bach's St John Passion (BWV 245), St Matthew Passion (BWV 244) and Magnificat (BWV 243); Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem and Haydn's The Creation and Nelson Mass. She also enjoys chamber music, regularly performing cantatas and other smaller works accompanied by period instruments. She has sung in the Handel Festival accompanied by Trinity Laban’s Baroque string orchestra. She has also sung many modern or more esoteric pieces and enjoys working directly with composers. Most notably she sang for Stephen Montague in his Requiem for soloist, chorus and symphony orchestra.

As a choral singer, Angela Hicks is a member of a number of ensembles and choirs and she deputises at many of the leading London churches. She also sings and plays celtic harp with Joglaresa, the UK's top medieval ensemble, directed by Belinda Sykes. She was a Monteverdi Choir apprentice for 2014-2015.
