Marc van Heteren (Tenor)

Born: The Netherlands

The Dutch lyrical tenor, Marc van Heteren, studied medicine in Rotterdam. During his medical studies, he was an enthusiastic choir singer. After his medical degree he studied in addition to his work as a doctor, singing at the Koninklijk Conservatorium te Den Haag (Royal Conservatory in The Hague) with Maria Acda en Gerda van Zelm. Afterr four years of studies at the Conservatory, he participatedc in a project directed by Ton Koopman in which he sang the tenor solo in J.S. Bach's B Minor Mass (BWV 232). After this he was taught by Udo Reinemann. He also took courses with Margreet Honig, Maarten Koningsberger, David Wilson-Johnson and Kurt Equiluz. Currently, he is taught by the teacher Geert Berghs.

Now Marc van Heteren has made ​​his hobby his profession; he sings in Bach cantatas and oratorios. He was soloist in L'Orfeo by Monteverdi with the Amsterdam Bach Consort, as an explorer in a children's performance at the Concert Hall, a children's opera at the YO! Festival in Utrecht and last year in the Mariavespers by Monteverdi directed by by Ton Koopman in Cremona. Since August 2002 he has worked with the Nederlands Kamerkoor.
