Kammerchor Hannover (Chamber Choir)

Founded: 2007 - Hannover, Germany

The Kammerchor Hannover (Hannover Chamber Choir) was founded by young singers under the direction of Stephan Doormann in 2007 and is based in the Neustädter Hof- und Stadtkirche (New Town Court and City Church) Hannover. Model for the ensemble are the Scandinavian chamber choirs with their distinct a cappella tradition associated with Central European expressiveness makes their homogeneous sound, the sound ideal of the choir. The Kammerchor Hannover performs challenging choral literature from all eras and different countries. Special emphasis is placed on new works and rarely performed compositions.

Both in CD recordings and concerts the Kammerchor Hannover attaches great importance to the provision of - in particular new music. Therefore, the concerts are always based on thematically closed concepts. Besides its own productions the Choir of difference-union organizers and cultural institutions is committed to concerts and projects; In addition to the premiere of two cantatas on Rondeau Production, they gave the the premiere of the chamber oratorio Hortus Animae by P.D. Peretti. In addition, the Kammerchor Hannover awarded commissions to contemporary composers (Sven Hagvil, Fabio Nieder), whose works they premiered.

In 2010 the Kammerchor Hannover was awarded the Echo Klassik prize for their recording of two newly composed cantatas on the CD "Glaubenslieder". In early 2012 they published on Rondeau Production the first CD "Shakespeare21". It includes Shakespeare settings from the 20th and 21st centuries. In September 2013, the Kammerchor Hannover participated in the Niedersächsischen Chorwettbewerb (Lower Saxony Choir Competition) and won in the category "Mixed Chamber Choirs" the 2nd place with a total of 23.3 points.

The Chamber Choir Hannover is member of the Verband Deutscher Konzertchöre (Association of German Concert Choirs; VDKC) in Lower Saxony and in the Niedersächsischen Kirchenchor-verband (Church Choir Association).
