Daniel Gutmann (Bass-Baritone)

Born: June 4, ___ - Austria

The Austrian bass-baritone, Daniel Gutmann, studied Sport science at the Universität Wien (Class of 2014). Since 2017, he studies Opera-singing at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna) (Master), under University Professor Julia Bauer-Huppmann. He has attended both national and international vocal competitions where he was awarded first prize in 2012 in the Prima La Musica National Competition and in the International Heinrich Strecker Singing Competition in Baden bei Wien where he was awarded second place in 2015, a first place at the international singing competition Viennese Dreams in Vienna 2016 and was finalist at the European singing contest Debut in Germany, as well as many others.

For many years Daniel Gutmann has performed as a bass soloist in Lieder recitals, masses and oratorios at various concert halls and churches especially in Austria and the USA. He gave his opera debut in 2013 as Don Alfonso in W.A. Mozart's opera Cosi Fan Tutte at the Salzkammergut Festival in Gmunden. In June 2015 he was Demetrius in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream as part of a University project. Last summer he sang (a mandolin playing) Leporello in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni at Vienna's Schlosstheater Schonbrunn. Immediately after he portrayed Buonafede ("an enthusiastic and moon addicted business man") in Haydn's rarity Il Mondo Della Luna. He is an active member of the opera organization Animato, bringing opera appreciation to local school children both in Austria and in Germany.

Daniel Gutmann also exhibits his flexibility (and enthusiasm) as manager and front man for the Country Pop group The Groovecake Factory as well as putting to good use his degree in sports science from the University of Vienna.

Daniel Gutmann appeared to great acclaim in a concert tour in New York in February 2017 and concluded this highly successful venture at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC. He has also appeared in Vienna's Konzerthaus this past summer as a member of the Company of Music as well as in recitals in Vienna and Lower Austria. Future plans will find him in Zürich where he will showcase his talents in Stephen Storace's unknown opera Gli Equivoci, as well as in George Frideric Handel's opera Oreste as Toante (2018) and a short appearance at Stadttheater Baden bei Wien.
