Marcus Günzel (Baritone)

Born: Dresden, Saxony, Germany

The German baritone, Marcus Günzel, sang as a child in the Dresdner Kreuzchor. From 1997 to 2003 he studied Sinfging at the Hochschule für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" in Dresden.and completed his soloist exam in 2005 after a postgraduate degree. He was a member of the Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann).

At the Staatsoperette Dresden, Marcus Günzel appeared for the first time in 2003 as John in the German premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical The Beautiful Game. Since 2005 he belongs here to the soloist ensemble and played, for example, the title roles in Boccaccio and Jekyll & Hyde, Morris Flynn in The Man Who Was Sherlock Holmes, Walter de Courcey in Chess, Golo/Michael in Pardon My English, Clifford Bradshaw in Cabaret, Bill Calhoun/Lucentio in Kiss Me, Kate, Brad Majors in The Rocky Horror Show, Seymour Krelbourn in The Little Horror Shop, Carl Hanratty in Catch Me If You Can or Ché in Evita). Guest performances took him to Nordhausen, Wittenberg, Rostock and the Theater Wechselbad. He is also a singer of the Dresden Salonorchester - the renowned dance orchestra in Dresden.
