T. Herbert Dimmock (Choral Conductor, Organ)

Born: USA

The American choral conductor and organist, T. Herbert Dimmock ia a graduate of Davidson College and Peabody Conservatory. He has pursued further study with Greg Smith, Roger Wagner, Robert Shaw, and Helmuth Rilling.

For 25 years, from 1977 to 2002, T. Herbert Dimmock was musical director of The Handel Choir of Baltimore. Under his leadership, the choir has experienced dramatic artistic growth, presenting outstanding performances of the masterpieces of the choral repertoire throughout the Baltimore region. He is now Director Emeritus of The Handel Choir of Baltimore. He has been the music Director of First English Lutheran Church in Baltimore for the past seventeen years. He has developed one of the finest choral music programs in the area. He is the music director of the Bach Concert Series at this church.

T. Herbert Dimmock is also the conductor/artistic director of the 75-voice Maryland Jewish Choral Society, music director of the 85-voice Harford Choral Society, president and artistic director of the 26 voice Herb Dimmock Singers, and choirmaster at Chizuk Amuno Congregation. He is also presently on the faculty of Harford Community College.

In addition to his work as a conductor, T. Herbert. Dimmock is an active organist who has been heard in recital at many of the world’s most prestigious sites, including: Westminster Abbey, Winchester Cathedral, the National Cathedral and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. His conducting credits are equally noteworthy and include many major ensembles in the USA: the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the International Bach Academy Orchestra, Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart, Germany, and the Handel Festival Orchestra.

T. Herbert. Dimmock lives in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Dr. Rebecca Bascom and their two children, Anne and Thomas.
