Rose Dampf (Soprano)

Born: Chernovitz, Russia
Died: Early 1990’s – Israel

Rose Dampf was born in Chernovitz and grew up in Vienna. When the Second World War started, she and her husband escaped to Russia. During the war years they were both members of a small touring opera ensemble. He was playing the drums and she was singing. After the war, she arrived to Rumania and sang in the Opera of Bucharest. She immigrated to Israel in the late 1950’s.

In Israel she did not belong to a formal musical institute. She participated in occasional opera concerts, and in the Original Abu-Gosh Music Festival of 1960. She was well-known private voice teacher. Among her many students were Netania Davrath, Bibiana Goldenthal, Robin Weisel and Dudu Fisher.
