Domkantorei Paderborn (Choir)

Founded: 1981 - Paderborn, Germany

The Domkantorei Paderborn (= DKP) was created in 1981 by Theodor Holthoff with the goal of enriching the cathedral music at the Paderborn Cathedral beside the Domchor (Knabenchor) [cathedral choir (boy choir)] with an adult choir. The choir of about 45 singers (men & women) maintains the pallet of the a-capella choral music of the vocal-polyphonic literature from early to modern: from Monteverdi and Schütz, through the Classical and Romantic periods, up to Franc Martin, Messiaen, Penderecki and Petr Eben. Naturally the performances of Passions as well as oratorios belong to the artistic field of the choir.
