Jean-Christophe Clair (Counter-tenor)

Born: France

The French counter-tenor, Jean-Christophe Clair, studied music at the Conservatoire National de Région (CNR) de Toulouse. In parallel, he participated in the lyric productions of the group Opéra Éclaté. Then he turned to the Baroque repertoire, which he studied at the Conservatoire National de Région (CNR) de Paris.

Jean-Christophe Clair has sung in the vocal ensembles Sagittarius (Director: Michel Laplénie) and Akadêmia Ensemble (Director: Françoise Lasserre). He performs particularly with La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy (Director: Jean-Claude Malgoire), and small ensemble or soloist with Ensemble Le Madrigal and Ensemble Clément Janequin. He is also a member of Ludus Modalis (Director: Bruno Boterf) and Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon).

Jean-Christophe Clair has developed other areas close to his heart like a Gregorian choir conducting, creating the vocal ensemble Voix Dominicaines, and he is very interested in two voices and organ repertoire, creating also the ensemble Tryptica.
