The American pianist and software engineer, Monica Chew, studied at NCSSM in Durham, North Carolina (1992-1994). She obtainhed her Bachelor of Science degree (computer science, mathematics) and her Bachelor of Music degree from University of North Carolina (UNC) at Greensboro, North Carolina (1994-1997); her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from San Francisco Conservatory of Music (1997-1998); and her PhD in Computer Science University of California (UC) at Berkeley (1999-2004). Her primary teachers include Paul Hersh, John Salmon, and Constance Kotis.
Monica Chew worked as Staff Software Engineer (on Gmail spam) at Google in Mountain View, California (2005-2012); and as Principal Software Engineer (on privacy for Firefox) at Mozilla in Mountain View, California (August 2012-March 2015).
