Giorgio Celenza (Baritone)

Born: September 26, 1986 - Pescara, Italy

The Italian baritone, Giorgio Celenza, began his piano studies in Pesara with the teacher Daniela De Ninis finishing with honors. At age 19. he began the study of singing at the Conservatorio Luisa D'Annunzio Pescara, Italy with the soprano Antonella Muscente, obtaining an honorary degree in 2011. He currently lives in Valencia and studies at the Conservatorio Superior “Joaquín Rodrigo” with Amadeo Llorís. At the same time, he perfects the singing technique with the baritone David Menéndez.

In June of 2007 Giorgio Celenza made his debut in the Serva Padrona by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi the role of Uberto, under the direction of Mº José Maria Sciutto. In December 2007 he sang the part of bass soloist in Te Deum by M.A. Charpentier for the inauguration of the Auditorium of the Conservatory of Pescara. In the summer of 2008 he debuted the role of Balanzone in the intermediate by Johann Adolf Hasse La serva scaltra and in 2009 he played the role of Nardo in La Finta giardiniera by W.A. Mozart at the Tuoro sul Trasimeno Theater. In November 2010 he sang a recital with romanzas by F.P. Tosti in the native house of G. D'Annunzio, with the participation of the Director of the Tostiano Institute, Francesco Sanvitale. In January 2011 he sang the bass part in Cantata BWV 21 Ich hatte viel bekümmernis by J.S. Bach. In April 2011 he sang El Guardainfante, with music by David Gálvez, at the Martín i Soler Hall of the Palau de les Arts in Valencia. In May 2012, he made his debut in the role of Papageno in W.A. Mozart's Die Zaubeflöte at the Auditorio del Conservatorio de Valencia, and at the Teatro de Ribaroja. In June of 2012 he sang in "Nit a les Arts", at the Sala Principal del Palau de les Arts, interpreting scenes of operas of the Italian repertoire. In June 2013 he debuted the role of the Marito in Amelia al Ballo by Giancarlo Menotti, at the Auditorio del Conservatorio Superior de Valencia and at Teatro de Ribarroja.

In the summer of 2013 he won the XVII "Mirna Lacambra" Competition again with the role of Papageno in Die Zauberflöte. In August 2013 it reached the final of the Competition of the City of Basciano, Italy, and the Antonio Cesti International Baroque Opera Singing Competition in Innsbruck, Austria. In October of 2013 he sang Papageno at the Teatro de la Farándula de Sabadell and in August 2014 debuted the role of Gerone in the opera L'Orontea by Cesti, at the the Innsbrucker Festival der Alte Musik.
