Sarita Cafferata (Conductor)

Born: December 31, 1966 - Buenoa Aires, Argeentina

The Argentinean conductor, Sarita (María Sara) Cafferata, belongs to the Servidoras, Institución de vida consagrada founded by the Siervo de Dios L. M. Etcheverry Boneo. She studied philosophy at the Universidad Católica. She received her doctorate at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, specializing in issues of aesthetics. She worked as a researcher at the CONICET delving into subjects related to art and beauty. From 2004 to 2006, she studied topics sacred iconography and symbolism at the Pontificia Universidad Gregoriana. Since her return from Rome, she teaches and coordinates courses of Aesthetics and Iconography in various institutions.

Sarita Cafferata began her musical studies with Maestro and composer Jorge Kumok. In 1996, she graduated from the Conservatorio Nacional Carlos López Buchardo (1985-1996), later perfected in organ and choral conducting. She participated in the Campus Musicales directed by Jordi Mora in 1992-1993 and in 2008 and 2009 in courses of conducting for management courses, training courses of organ directed by by Mons. J.G. Segade, held in Santa María de la Armonía from 1998 to 2001.

In 2010 and 2011 she participated in orchestral conducting courses organized by the Municipality of Lanús with Maestro S. Feferovich. She performed in several organ concerts. She studied singing with Marta Blanco from 2001 to 2004. She completed coursesat the Pontificium Institutum Musicae Sacrae (Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music) in Rome, deepening her knowledge of choral and voice coaching, with Maestro Walter Marzilli from 2004 to 2005. Since 1999 sshe tudies in particular with Maestro Antonio Russo.

In 2011 she studied conducting and phenomenology applied to musical interpretation with Maestro Jordi Mora. She was a member of the Coro Ars Musicalis, under the direction of Mons. Segade, where she worked as head trainer of voices and strings. With Segade she organized concerts of Coros de la Asociación Argentina de Cultura for five years. In 1992, she founded the Coro Santa Cecilia de la Asociación Argentina de Cultura, she serves as director from its foundation, conducting it in numerous presentations and concerts in Buenos Aires and the surroundings. Since 1999 she regularly conducts choral-symphonic works with the Orquesta de la Asociación Argentina de Cultura. She has conducted several times other orchestras and instrumental ensembles, such as the Orquesta Buenos Ayres Barroco, Orquesta de Cámara Juvenil, Orquesta de la Municipalidad de Lanús.

In August this year she founded Ensamble vocal Santa María, under the Asociación Argentina de Cultura - chamber choir consisting of young singers, with whom she performed two symphonic and choral concerts. She is a member and co-founder of the group Música Litúrgica, an association that was created with the purpose of dissemination and development of liturgical music. She also conducted the choirs of Colegio P. L. M. Etcheverry Boneo, where she coordinates the musical artistic area. He has conducted numerous recordings of teaching, chorales and entertainment. She has recently published her second album with children's songs by her.
