Simona Brüninghaus (Soprano)

Born: 1968 - Moers, Germany

The German Simona Brüninghaus, received her first piano lessons from her father at the age of 6. When she was 16 she passed the "C" level examination for church musicians. After her final school leaving examination she first trained to be a speech therapist and followed this career for 8 years. At the same time she studied singing at the Detmold music academy in Münster passing her singing examination in 1998 with special honors. She then took part in master-classes with Roberta Alexander and Christoph Prégardien.

One year after starting her study of music Simona Brüninghaus made her first appearance at the opera in Münster, taking the role of the 15-year-old in Alban Berg's Lulu. As from 1998 she was under contract in Detmold and sang both in the chorus and as a soloist, for example as the first boy in Mozart's Magic Flute. She also devoted herself to concert and Lieder singing and sang in numerous oratorios.
