The American pianist, Frederick Blum, began playing at the age of 4 and at the age of 7 was at the Juilliard School, New York. He completed his bachelor and masters there and since then has been distinguished with numeruous awards, including 3rd place at the International Busoni competition of 1983, and 4th prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition of 1979 (the 3rd prize winner of that competition was the Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt).
Frederick Blum lives now in Munich, Germany. In August 2019, he gave a solo recital at Kulturhaus Schwartzsche Villa in Berlin with works by J.S. Bach, E.T.A. Hoffmann and W.A. Mozart. In July 2020, in played in the Summer Concerts 2020 Wien-Lichtental works by J.S. Bach, L.v. Beethoven, Schubert and premiered passionate pieces from Timothy Hodor's latest work, "Sestina". He recorded Hans Gál & Johannes Brahms: Works for cello & piano, with the cellist Rebecca Raust (Cavalli Records, 2006); and several albums with piano music by Timothy Hodor for Preiser Records: Cascade (2013), Gemstones (2014), Triptych (2016), Quadratych (2017), Quintessence: (2018), Sestina (2023). |
