Odéi Bilodeau (Soprano)

Born: Sainte-Louise-des-Aulnaies, Québec, Canada

The Canadian soprano, Odéi Bilodeau, obtained her diploma in classical singing at the École de Musique Vincent-d’Indy. She continued her studies at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal (CMM) from 2006 to 2012 as student Grabrielle Lavigne, Donna Brown and later with Aline Kutan. During her studies, she has the chance to participate in each of the CMM opera productions. In addition, she was selected as soloist with the l’Orchestre Symphonique du CMM to perform, among others, Exsultate jubilate by W.A. Mozart and La Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini. She performed with the L’Orchestre Symphonique des Jeunes de Montréal conducted by Louis Lavigueur (masses, oratorios by Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn, Haydn, Charpentier, Delalande, Corette) and with various Montreal choirs, in repertoire ranging from Antonio Vivaldi to Gabriel Fauré. During her apprenticeship, she was awarded grants to allow her participating in various training courses including those of Domaine Forget, the Académie d’Orford and the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute.

In summer 2012, she won a second prize at the 24th Concours de Musique du Canada. In July 2015, she won the 1st prize and the audience award at the concours Mathieu-Duguay au Festival international de Musique Baroque de Lamèque, which led her to breed the next edition of Festival Neo-Brunswickois and the Festival Montréal Baroque next summer. In June 2014, she won the Concours international Bruce Haynes co-organized by Montréal Baroque, Atma Classique and the CBC/McGill Series. This allowed her to sing at the Tage Alter Musik iRegensburg Festival in Germany and at the Festival Montréal Baroque under the direction of Eric J. Milnes.

Odéi Bilodeau is a young soprano stands on the Quebec music scene in the Baroque and Classical repertoire. In Montréal, she performed with various ensembles including Clavecin en Concert and Compagnie Baroque Mont-Royal. Recently, she was soloist with the Chœur de Québec to interpret Les Sept paroles du Christ by Théodore Dubois conducted by Guy Bélanger and she has also performed the role of Eglah in Il Serpente di Bronzo by Jan Dismas Zelenka with the Compagnie Baroque Mont-Royal. She sang A. Vivaldi's Gloria on Saturday at the la Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours à Montréal with the Chœur du Collège Saint-Stanislas under the direction of Monique Orvoine. In December 2015, she sang French Baroque repertoire at a private concert organized by the Compagnie Baroque Mont-Royal.
