Aston Magna Festival Orchestra (Baroque Orchestra)

Founded: 1972 - Great Barrington, Massachusetts, USA

The Aston Magna Festival Orchestra was founded in 1972 by Lee Elman and Albert Fuller. It is dedicated to the performance of 17th and 18th century music. It performs every year in Berkshires of Massachusetts and Bard College. The Aston Magna Festival is the oldest summer festival in America devoted to music performed on period instruments. Among the many highlights of Aston Magna’s pioneering history have been the first performances of the complete Bach Brandenburg concertos and the first Mozart Symphonies heard in America on original instruments.
