Ensemble Aperto (Instrumental Ensemble)

Founded: 1991 - Germany

The name Aperto is at the same time program: equal dialogue of all music-making. With this idea the violinist Elfriede Stahmer and the cellist Ulrike Mix created in 1991 the ensemble Aperto. The repertoire covers chamber music and orchestra literature of the Baroque and the Classical periods. All members of Aperto look back on an intensive argument with the music of different eras and in each case choose the preferred equipment for it. They have collected experiences in internationally renowned ensembles (such as La Petite Bande, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Philippe Herreweghe's Orchestra). Guest artists associated with the ensemble are, for example, Monica Huggett, Ku Ebbinge and Sarah Cunningham.
