Founded: 1992 - Köln, Germany

Ensemble Accademia Filarmonica Köln (= AFK) was founded in 1992 by Marie Theres Brand; since 1996 under the direction of the concert-master Gabriele Nußberger. Using original instruments the members specialise in choir-accompanying works of the Baroque and the Classical periods. Their repertoire includes, among other things, J.S. Bach's Passions up to W.A. Mozart's Requiem; in addition, unknown works are gladly rediscovered and performed. Dependent on the concert repertoire the ensemble is extended by string and brass instruments.
