José Manuel Delicado (Tenor)

Born: January 31, 1972 - Almansa, Albacete, Spain

The Spanish tenor, José Manuel Delicado Villaescusa, began his oboe studies at the local music school at the age of 4. He later entered the Conservatorio Profesional of Albacete (1985-1990). He began his singing studies with Professor Ricardo Castelló at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música of Almansa. He took courses in Choral Conducting and Singing with Juan Luis Martínez, José Ramón Gil, Maite Oca, Mónica Perales and Llanos Martínez. Finalist and Prize winner of the San Sebastián International Competition (2022).

José Manuel Delicado is a Technical Universidad Politécnica of Valencia (1991-1995) and a member of the Orfeón Universitario of Valencia since 1992, with which he has participated as a tenor soloist in numerous concerts and symphonic-choral works (W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, J.S. Bach's Magnificat in D major BWV 243, Orff's Carmina Burana, A. Dvorák's Requiem, Antonio Vivaldi's Magnificat, Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, etc.).

José Manuel Delicado is director and founder of the Escuela Coral de la Sociedad Unión Musical of Almansa, since 1999. He is Oboe in the Band of the same Society. He completed higher education in singing at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Alicante (2016-2020) with Professor Pilar Páez. Currently he is studying the Master of Research and Interpretation at the said Conservatory.

Concert and opera lyric tenor, José Manuel Delicado possesses a full lyric tenor voice. He is proud of an extensive career in solo singing in addition to collaborating with choirs while developing his own company as engineer. Delicado has performed in major vocal works in concert as well as important stages. His talent has been recognised in international competitions. He still collaborates with the choirs of some of the most important theaters in Spain and is ready to continue his career as soloist tenor. Some of his performances as a tenor soloist are: J.S. Bach's Oster-Oratorium BWV 249, with the Orquesta de la Ribera; Premiere of R. Beltrán's work El Naixement, in Villa Real; George Frideric Handel's Messiah, with the Orquesta Eutherpe; Carl Orff's Carmina Burana by, with the Orquesta de la Universidad de Valencia and the Orfeón del Auditorio de Zaragoza; In 2017 La Boheme with the ORA (Orquesta Reino Aragón); La Traviata with the Orquesta Eutherpe; Charles Gounod Mass at the ADA (Alicante), with the Orfeón Cantábile; In 2018 The Merry Widow, with the Orquesta de Alcoi; Thematic concerts with the Orquesta de Valencia at the Palau de la Música; Georges Bizet's Carmen in Zaragoza, Huesca and Valencia with the ORA; In 2019 he played the role of Nemorino in the performances of L'Elixir D'Amore in the province of Alicante and Albacete; W.A. Mozart's Requiem in Albacete with the Orquesta del Oonservatorio; In 2019 and 2020 he performed concerts with the Banda Municipal de Alicante in Orihuela and at the ADA, performing opera, zarzuela and festive music.

José Manuel Delicado is part of Intermezzo Musical Productions for the Teatro Real and the Liceu of Barcelona. He also belongs to the INAEM reinforcement pool of the Teatro de la Zarzuela choir and recently of the RTVE.ES Choir. He is manager at Itis sl, Innovación Tecnológica, Ingeniería y Sistemas since September 2014, and currently lives in Almansa.
